As a definite tofu sceptic - it's a texture thing! - I'm thinking that this recipe might encourage me into trying again. I'm looking at those thin, flavour coated slices with their browned edges and I think I might just be tempted!
Do you think unsmoked (ie regular firm tofu) would work too? I’ve also been looking for a way into tofu and tried whipped tofu this week (it’s good!) so have half a block left and am wondering if I can give this a go with that?
Yes, good point. You can use any firm tofu you like. I just love smoked tofu and think it's a good entry point for tofu sceptics. You might want to add a little smoked paprika to the herby oil, just to give it a bit of smokiness. Up to you...
Would love to hear what whipped tofu recipe you followed. I've not tried it but am keen!
As a tofu-clueless, this is great! And a great read and always! I will be trying it as soon as I get back to England. Am sure Italy does have tofu, but it HIDES.

It's really good cooked this way. Would love to hear if you try it!

ooo love the smoke paprika idea. Will report back. The whipped tofu umber is coming to my newsletter in a couple of weeks so watch this space…
Brilliant. Look forward to seeing it!
What a revelation! I used the method to create a prawn substitute for a stir fry with firm tofu (Toofoo). Delicious, thank you Claire.
Fantastic! Love to hear that.

In Bulgaria, it hides in Lidl 😂
No Lidl round here!!
Brilliant Claire, thank you m. Another one I will definitely try. I did fail to do the lime flowers though, thank goodness there is always next year
Exactly, there's always next year. Do let me know if you do try the tofu. I'd love to hear what you think of it.
Inspiring tofu ideas!
Thanks! Hope you enjoy them.
